Set up Your New Livestream

Step-by-step guide for downloading and installing our TikTok game.

Step 1. Download

Download the Game by clicking "Download for Windows.

Once the game has finished downloading, unzip the folder in your downloads folder (or wherever you want it).

Step 2. Install Java

Once you've extracted the files, You will see three folders

  • FinishedServer (The local java server you will run)

  • FinishedTikTok (The Tiktok connect Client)

  • Windows (The folder containing the UE5 Game)

Before we can run the game, Java needs to be installed. Open FinishedServer and you will see a file "runServer".

  • THIS IS A WINDOWS BATCH FILE. Be very careful running files like this that you download from the internet. Bad Actors can plant malware in these files.

  • Right click and open the file in notepad to double check the contents of the file. The file should only check if Java is installed, and if so, run the Java server application

  • If you run the file and it tells you that you do not have Java installed, go HERE to download JDK21 from oracle.com. Make sure it is JDK 21 for Windows.

  • Download x64 Installer and run the installer after it has downloaded

Step 3. Environment Variables

After installing java, you need to add it to your paths. If you've never done this before, it can be scary. But it's pretty simple.

  • Go the directory (folder) where java has been installed. Usually C:\Program Files\Java then open the jdk folder. Double click the Bin folder to navigate there.

  • At the top of your file explorer, copy the ENTIRE path: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-21\bin for example

  • Now for the hard part: Click the windows search bar and type in "environment" ---- Click on [edit the system environment variables]

  • Click on Environment variables

  • Under System variables, click the one that says "Path"

  • While Path is selected, click edit, click new

  • Paste the java path --- click OK, click OK, click OK to close the 3 windows.

    YOU DID IT!

Step 4. Start Server

Going back to those 3 folders you downloaded.

  • (optional) Inspect the runserver.bat with notepad if you want to double check there is no malicious code

  • Double Click runserver.bat then when prompted with the scary screen that says "Windows protected your PC", Click "more info" --- Run anyway.

  • Windows does this with applications it does not recognize to protect you from potential harm.

  • Now, the server should have started, type in your 4 digit Local server port you wish to use, then press enter.
